Sophie Gurfinkel is a law student with a growing passion for intellectual property law and a strong interest in the legal protection of innovation and creative expression. She is currently pursuing her Juris Doctor at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, where she focuses on the intersection of science, policy, and intellectual property.

Originally from the Chicago area, Sophie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Geological Sciences with a minor in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During her time there, she served as Secretary of the Geology Club and was an active member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, where she developed leadership, organizational, and community engagement skills that continue to shape her professional path.

At UIC Law, Sophie serves as Vice President of the Women’s Law Caucus, helping lead initiatives that support women in law and advocate for equity in the profession. She is actively engaged in developing her IP knowledge and looks forward to contributing to the field through her legal studies and future practice.
